The interdependence between business and stakeholders has never been more critical, nor has the need for collaboration to learn from past events and ensure they are never repeated, Sibanye-Stillwater CEO Neal Froneman said during the second yearly Marikana Memorial Lecture, on August 17. The lecture was held to commemorate the August 16, 2012, Marikana massacre, when members of the South African Police Service opened fire on striking miners at a hill near the mine, killing 34 people and injuring others after a prolonged strike event.
